Job Purpose. Crafts enterprise level solutions for customers, through understanding complex business requirements and challenges, and being able to map these to comprehensive functional, technical and service solutions for deployment in the customer business. The Solution Architect’s role is to fully understand a customer’s business challenges by analysing requirements and constructing a solution around those challenges and opportunities; leveraging products that deliver great value and business benefit to the customer. The Solution Architect must exhibit a high level of business maturity, operate and have proven ability to quickly understand business problems and find/design the appropriate technology offerings and differentiators. They must be able to fully bridge functional, technical and sectoral components across a wide range of customers and industries. Based in London, Dublin, Cork or Kilkenny offices with regular travel between. Job duties. Reports to Head of Solutions and Innovation. Provide key solution and service support to the pre-sales function by elegantly solving complex business problems; taking the lead role in defining solutions for new business. Defining Project and Programme delivery: Champions SaaS delivery principles and deployment methods within and our customer base. Defines project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases, and elements; forming project team; establishing project budget. Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, evaluating output requirements and formats. Prepares business case reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends. Ability to craft implementation service solutions and costings. Monitors project progress to ensure the coherent delivery of the defined solution throughout the project lifecycle. Provide clear direction to implementation project team members on function and design of solution. Act as a senior solution governance advisor to key customer projects – maintains user confidence and protects operations. Product knowledge (functional): Learns and understands and is expert in all aspects of the application suite and its business deployment. Champions cross-functional integration and lean system & business process optimisation. Improves systems design by studying current best practices, industry trends & evolution, and defines solution and service enhancements based on these (close working with Product team. Designs software by analysing requirements, constructing workflow charts and diagrams, studying system capabilities, writing specifications. Provide support to Product and Development teams in developing solutions. Provide guidance on how to improve overall solution usability and user experience. Plan, lead and prioritise work for Product and Development for new and existing initiatives, with key quantitative customer and industry analysis and metrics. Holistic end-to-end business process engineering (not just by software function. Recommends controls by identifying problems, writing improved procedures. Maintains system protocols by writing and updating procedures. Sectoral, industry and jurisdictional expertise: Champions developing requirements by sector, jurisdiction, legislation and business function. Strategic business acumen and understanding of strategy and ability to design solutions to deliver that strategy. Designs industry specific (vertical) solution design and setup (configurations). Develop and maintain models of industry specific vertical solution architectures. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies. Maintains an awareness of HCM software solutions that may support mission. Technical knowledge (non-functional): Gathers requirements and drives integration with third party partner applications and business systems. Strong technical knowledge with regards to deployment of SaaS solutions in a customer’s operating environment, particularly with regards to the integration of with third parties (internal and external to the customer. Technical expertise in the definition of integration architecture from flat-file transfer to web services. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Skills/Qualification. Relational database design, software design, software documentation, software development process, software requirements, analysing information, teamwork, software maintenance, written communication, promoting process improvement. Excellent communication and facilitation skills with ability to explain technical concepts to lay audiences. Experience of working with board level stakeholders is an advantage. Self-starter and an ability to appropriately prioritise and plan complex work in rapidly changing environments. Results oriented with ability to produce products that deliver organisational benefit. Strong critical thinker with problem solving aptitude. Team player with experience leading and collaborating cross-team to ensure successful delivery of solution. A minimum of 4 years in a professional senior technical role such as technical lead, architect, or other hands on leadership role ideally for a major consultancy or solution/service provider.
