Lead Buyer MRO (Cork. This globally renowned food processing organisation has retained Brightwater Specialist Recruitment to source and experienced Buyer/Purchasing Specialist for a Lead Buyer role based in Cork. The Lead Buyer will be responsible for managing the procurement of all MRO related spend for the business. The role is based in North Cork and is part of the supply chain team, but will involve significant cross functional interaction. The key deliverable of the role is to ensure best value for allocated spend. The Role. - Ensuring that the business is comprehensively supported with a consistent flow of scheduled, quality materials & services from high-performance and price-competitive supply sources; - Negotiating with Suppliers for the delivery of the purchasing budget and targeted savings and writing effective Supply Contracts to secure optimum purchasing outcomes; - Ensuring that Dairygold full purchasing spend is effectively leveraged in this area. - Inventory control in conjunction with sites of relevant material. - Measuring key Supplier contract performance on a monthly basis across all the critical procurement parameters. - Identifying and presenting Value Analysis opportunities to the Business and exerting influence for change towards cost-effective substitute materials and/or alternative supply sources in a Continuous Improvement environment; - Working with Group & Site Management to ensure that Group-approved strategies, policies and procedures are adhered to in the procurement. - Maintain the end-to-end procurement process from the price catalogue through to monitoring and reporting on the budgetary impact of transactions; - Liaise with other functions to ensure that the approval and qualification of suppliers accords with best practice and legal parameters; - Participation in Continuous Improvement Initiatives and other projects as required. The Candidate. - Detailed knowledge of modern procurement procedures for the specific area. - Knowledge & demonstrated capability in areas of contract negotiation and implementation in a multisite manufacturing environment. - Previous experience in a food or pharma environment desirable. - Strong business acumen and commercial awareness. - Proven working relationship with people. - Excellent influencing skills. - Confident and optimistic with positive energy and drive to meet targets and achieve results. - Well-developed customer focus with a commitment to the principle of Supplier Quality & end-user Customer satisfaction first-time & on time; - Awareness of the key factors influencing price movement coupled with an awareness of trend-lines and emerging technology innovations across the spectrum of purchased materials that could potentially deliver benefits to DFI’s business profitability; - Ability to work with minimal supervision and, at times, on a multiplicity of time-constrained, conflicting tasks; - Solution oriented individual with strong analytical and problem solving skills. - Proven track record of strong organisational skills. Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. - Confident approach to managing internal relationships. - Strong IT skills are essential. Previous exposure to an ERP system and knowledge of Oracle is advantageous. - Knowledge of “lean principles” is desirable.
