Our client, a medical device company in Cork are currently looking to recruit a Senior Equipment Engineer for their site. Purpose. Provide scientific understanding and technical engineering skills to engineer and implement highly capable and effective manufacturing processes. Ability to coach, lead and enhance the productivity of technical reports within the business. Provide a structured framework for training of technical reports. Build collaborative relationships through strong teamwork across the organization. Employ empirical analysis in the study of root causes and the resolution of processing problems. Responsibilities: Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality at all times. Lead a team of Maintenance Technicians and/or Engineers across the plant supporting all production equipment in line with key business performance metrics. Maintain a valid resource model and forward plan same to assure seamless on-going Maintenance support to all production lines. Manage the skills versatility of the Maintenance team to ensure a high level of cross trained technical capability exists within the team. Responsible for the suitable selection & hiring of Maintenance technical staff in support of the business. Maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Maintenance function (MTBF, MTTR etc.) Provide Daily, Weekly & Monthly Equipment Downtime Reports as required by the business. Utilise KPI metrics to drive Continuous Improvement activities within the Maintenance function to minimise production downtime and/or improve equipment performance. Compile & trend equipment performance data in line with Quality system & Regulatory requirements. Manage the Equipment Spares process for the site assuring availability of critical equipment spare parts in line with annual engineering spares budgets. Engage with Equipment Engineering on Value improvement (VIP) projects and influence equipment and/or process selection in line with the needs of the business. Support the sites Equipment Introduction Strategy in relation to the determination of maintenance requirements, safety, equipment spares and preventative maintenance needs. Support the sites New Product Introduction process keeping abreast of technology and resource needs from a production equipment maintenance perspective. Manage the sites production equipment preventative maintenance program through the PEMAC system. Support Internal & External Audits as needed on Equipment Introduction and Preventative Maintenance policies & procedures as SME for same. Provide professional and technical leadership to Maintenance Engineers, Maintenance Technicians and Process Technicians on Equipment troubleshooting and/or fault finding as necessary. Keep abreast of production equipment technologies within the industry and make suitable recommendations where justified to business. Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality at all times. Deputize for the Equipment Engineering Manager as and when required. Experience and Qualifications. Level 8 qualification in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronic, Production etc.) with ideally 5+ year's relevant experience. A working knowledge of PEMAC Maintenance Management System is an advantage but not essential. Ability to read & interpret electrical & control technical specifications & drawings. Ability to fault find complex Electrical and PLC control systems is a distinct advantage. Hands on experience in a fully automated manufacturing environment is an advantage. Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel is required. Familiarity with standard problem solving processes (6-sigma) is an advantage. Previous relevant experience in a highly regulated environment is an advantage. A proven track record in the leadership & management of technical staff is required.
