RETAIL BUYER required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Cork based Food & Dairy client. The RETAIL BUYER will will manage the strategic planning, negotiation and implementation of the purchasing plan for a developing range of products. THE ROLE: * Sourcing New suppliers, products and alternative supply chain arrangements while maintaining relationships with existing suppliers. * Margin Improvement, Liaise with Finance, Marketing and the Supplier Base to ensure margin enhancement through free goods, LTA's, marketing & promotional support etc. * Stock Inventory, Managing plans and budgets for stock levels, reacting to change in demand and logistics. * Supplier Relationship Management, Achievement of sales and profitability targets by forging strong supplier relationships. * Product and Price File Maintenance; Negotiation of cost price and bonuses that delivers real competitiveness and value for money to the customer. * Benchmarking; Price comparison, competitor tracking and market trend analysis.  Initiate and coordination of all promotions; Initiating contact with all relevant suppliers for all promotional activity while maintaining all. deadlines. * Business CommunicationReporting; work with the Retail Head of Buying to ensure the Purchasing Customer base receives and. provides value added information accurately and on a timely basis. * Monitor and implement Procedures, Policy and Controls. REQUIREMENTS: * Have a degree or similar qualification in Purchasing / Business / Retail Possess. * Have demonstrated retail buying experience in a similar role and be able to demonstrate a track record of driving a business forward. * Have experience in range & option planning - category review process. * Have experience or insight into the Category Management function and work to increase sales through effective category/space management practices. * Ability to work to stock budgets whilst delivering Sales and Margin Budgets. * Experience in delivering range presentations; incorporating a financial and strategic perspective to a varied audience including senior teams. * Be numerate and IT literate, and be familiar with the following software packages e.g. Microsoft Office.
