Social Worker Full Time 12 Month Locum. (Under the Governance of Mercy University Hospital Cork Ltd.) The medical social work team in Mercy University Hospital supports the day-to-day implementation of the Mercy ethos. The department is particularly focused on addressing the needs of patients and their families in a spirit of promoting compassionate social justice. Responsibilities - The post holder will be responsible for; -To assist in the provision of a social work service for patients and their families as directed by the Principal Social Worker. -To work as a full time member of the multi-disciplinary team of the Hospital providing within this service an understanding of the psychological, emotional and social difficulties of individuals and families in crisis. -To assess the concerns and resources of the patient, their family or significant others, and to formulate care plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, patient and family. -To facilitate use of community based services as they relate to patients, their family or significant others, and the bereaved, through liaison with services outside of the Hospital. -Initial assignment is likely to be aligned with the Oncology and Care of the Elderly Services. Eligibility Criteria - Candidates: -Be registered as a Social Worker with CORU. -Have satisfactory post graduate experience. -Ideally have experience of working in a medical setting.
