Clinical Nurse Specialist – Care of the Older Person. (Under the Governance of Mercy University Hospital Cork CLG.) The post holder will be a key member of the inter-disciplinary clinical team and will lead the provision of nurse-led older person care. The post holder will work in partnership with the older person, to improve the experience of the patient who is admitted to an acute hospital, and improve the experience of the family/ carer of the person. Responsibilities - The post holder will be responsible for; •Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care of assigned patients. •Provide a specialist nursing service for older persons that require support and treatment through the continuum of care. •Practice nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics for Registered Nurses and Midwives (NMBI 2014. •The maintenance and development of professional nursing standards. •The maintenance of a safe environment for patients and staff within allocated resources. •The promotion of multi-disciplinary team working. Eligibility Criteria - Candidates: •Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland {NMBI} •At least 5 years recent post registration experience. •Have acquired a level 8 post registration Gerontology course qualification. •Provide evidence of clinical and professional managerial ability, leadership, communication and organisational skills. •Excellent interpersonal skills. •Provide evidence of ongoing professional development. •Evidence of leading clinical practice initiatives. •Evidence of promotion of multi-disciplinary team work. •Evidence of leading clinical practice initiatives. •Evidence of promotion of multi-disciplinary team work.
