We are currently recruiting a Packaging Technologist to join our Quality team in Little Island on a permanent basis. We are the concentrate team in PepsiCo (PGCS) working across the Beverage, Nutrition and Snacks categories to deliver concentrate for many of PepsiCo's mega brands including Gatorade, 7Up and Pepsi. We are at the heart of PepsiCo products, sourcing ingredients to manufacture more than 1,200 recipes for our brands. The successful candidate will be responsible for management of packaging materials ensuring compliance to food safety, quality, regulatory (UN) and functional requirements. Principal Accountabilities: Responsible for management of packaging materials ensuring compliance to food safety, quality, regulatory (UN) and functional requirements. Manage disposition of all packaging materials and quality control records. Point of contact for day to day quality issues related to packaging which effect plant efficiency. Proactively assist in resolving packaging design and line issues. Support initiatives by identifying packaging Best Practice requirements from incoming packaging through to finished product shipment. Work with cross-functional departments to drive the execution of the packaging productivity initiatives to achieve targeted annual savings. Manage change control process to ensure new packages are successfully validated. Ensure compatibility of packaging components with existing and future plant equipment. Work closely with current and new vendors to drive quality excellence and continuous improvement activities using technical knowledge and packaging best practices. Point of contact for quality and technical related discussions with vendors. Provide technical support to vendors as required. Schedule and execute packaging supplier audits to support SQA program. Point of contact to raise, track and ensure timely closure of packaging related NCR's. Lead quality agenda during performance reviews with vendors and senior management. Support Cork packaging BCP program for key packaging materials. Train personnel on packaging best practice initiatives. A requirement of this role is to adhere to all PepsiCo Health & Safety requirements. Essential Skills: Bachelor degree in engineering or physical sciences. Qualification in packaging discipline is desirable. Experience in food and beverage industry manufacturing and supply chain environment is advantageous. Excellent working knowledge of quality systems and audit program; and the employment of quality tools for the processing and manufacture of packaging materials. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams. Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze technical data and translate information into actionable activities. Drive for results and proven track record on delivering against business objectives on complex projects across multiple functions. Self-starter and self-motivating with the inherent ability to deal with uncertainty and complexity. Knowledge of UN approved packaging is an advantage.
